History Quiz Questions and Answers
History is better when you know the detail. Anyone can name the year of a famous battle. Fewer people know what happened next, who got the warning letter, or what an inventor was doing the night before the idea arrived.
This page collects every history question we've set on Astuto. Most are about Britain and Ireland, with the wider world when the story is too good to leave out. Each comes with four options, one right answer and a short explanation drawn from a reliable source, so you can check our working.
We steer clear of trick wording. The challenge is in the knowledge, not the phrasing. If you get one wrong, you'll at least come away with a better story than you went in with.
New history questions arrive every week, including the anniversaries worth marking: Bonfire Night, Remembrance and the dates that still shape the calendar.
